David Santos (He/Him)
David is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with experience working in public health across both hospital and community settings. He finished his graduate and post-graduate mental health nursing training at the Royal Children’s Hospital before working primarily as a Mental Health Clinician in CAMHS, providing mental health assessments, psychotherapy, case management, and care coordination for children and adolescents and their families and carers.
David frames a child’s mental health as an expression of their biology, individuality, relationships, family, culture, and history. In his work with children, he recognises the role of the parents and carers as the experts in their child including the power, influence and strength of the parent-child relationship. As such, David promotes a collaborate approach, working in partnership with families as a rule rather than an exception.
Kinbase thinks, works and plays in Naarm (Melbourne). We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land, and pay respect to their Elders past and present. We honour Aboriginal child-rearing practices, centred in community, storytelling, and meaning-making through metaphor.
